The Importance of Asking Questions in a World of Hidden Ingredients

Our garden is currently providing a bountiful supply of zucchini. A few days ago, I used some of it to make chocolate zucchini muffins. Zucchini and chocolate may sound like an odd combination, but the muffins are tasty and you’d never know what was in them unless someone told you.

One of my sons ate most of the batch, while the other refused to eat any. It’s funny how knowing what’s in something can affect your decisions. Although I feel my son who refused them missed out on a tasty treat, he’s an adult now and can decline to eat something based on its ingredients. It’s his choice to make.

Whether it’s the food that you feed your body or the messages that you feed your brain, it’s important to know what you’re allowing in. Sometimes things are cleverly hidden, like the zucchini in the muffins or a message in the media. If you really want to know what you’re absorbing, you’ve got to ask questions and be able to trust the source of the information. I encourage you to ask more questions. Don’t assume something is as it appears until you’ve done your research. You get to decide what you allow in, choose wisely.
